Meet me by the purple fence      by Meia Geddes

Meet me by the purple fence.
It is tall and wide and purple,
With a man in overalls beside it.
He’ll be raking stones.

Meet me, please, by the purple fence.
There will be “A Precise Constitution,”
And a “Guidebook to Extra-Terrestrial Creatures,” too.
I’ll be waiting for you.

Meet me by the purple fence, please do.
You’ll spot embroidered hearts on your new friend’s overalls,
And know you’re there
When you see the clothespins.

By the purple fence I will be, do meet me.
I’ll wear golden shoes.
There’s a big bear there on the purple fence.
He’ll say hello to you.

Please meet me by the purple fence.
It’s only just there, beyond a sky or two,
Three meadows, an empty field.
I’ll always wait for you.
